MultiTech Expands Reach of the Conduit and Conduit AP Gateways with Added Support for BACnet
Transforms the Landscape for In-Building Connectivity Through Seamless Integration of LoRaWAN Sensors into Existing BACnet Building Systems
Las Vegas, NV – June 12, 2023 – MultiTech, a leading global supplier of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and services today announced at the Realcomm Conference, that its award-winning MultiTech Conduit® gateway and Conduit® AP access point are now available with BACnet™ protocol support, a standard for Building Automation and Control Networks.
BACnet is the protocol standard for many mechanical and HVAC systems.
The introduction of BACnet to the MultiTech Conduit and Conduit AP enables LoRaWAN® sensors to seamlessly integrate and communicate back to an existing Building Management System (BMS). Combining LoRaWAN and BACnet together allows facilities to leverage the range and flexibility of LoRaWAN wireless sensors in order to adapt traditional BMS systems to new and changing use cases without costly changes to wiring systems.
“There is a need within commercial buildings for cost effective LoRaWAN, sensor-based applications that can monitor more parts of the building and streamline operations – such as prevent water leak damage, and boost energy efficiency, to name just a few,” said Daniel Quant General Manager of Routers, Gateways, and Modems at MultiTech. “With new support for BACnet, LoRaWAN end nodes can look and behave like BACnet nodes – introducing more options for sensor usage, ultimately reducing maintenance and management costs.”
The Conduit and Conduit AP harness the power of the LoRaWAN, a LPWAN protocol specifically designed for IoT, to provide in-building penetration and connectivity to thousands of IoT assets. The protocol is ideally suited for commercial buildings like hotels, convention centers, offices and retail facilities providing low cost, wireless coverage within difficult to reach areas where cell towers or rooftop deployments may not penetrate.
The Conduit and Conduit AP are capable of supporting any compliant LoRaWAN sensor.
MultiTech at Realcomm
Join us at Pre-Con, on June 13 for “Smart & Sustainable #Building Automation” at 3:30 w/ Daniel Quant and Tridium’s Michael Smith to learn how LoRaWAN sensors, are able to optimize building automation through the Niagara Framework, a truly open building management platform. Creating revenue opportunities for building owners and MSIs to drive smart and sustainable building automation. MultiTech’s newest BACnet support for its LoRaWAN gateways will be highlighted for simple fast integration of wireless sensing & building intelligence.
