MultiTech Conduit AP Access Point Now Available for an Even Wider Variety of Locations

New Power over Ethernet (PoE) Option Eliminates Limitations of Power Outlets

Mounds View, MN – January 12, 2021 –Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading global supplier of Industrial IoT communication devices and services, today announced the availability of MultiTech Conduit® AP Access Point with a new Power over Ethernet (PoE) option. The new power option permits usage of the award-winning Conduit AP in a wider variety of locations without the limitation of existing power outlets or the additional cost of running electrical service to new locations.

“The Conduit AP conveniently provides deep in-building connectivity and improved performance for network operators and enterprises connecting thousands of IoT assets by harnessing the power of the LoRaWAN® protocol,” said David Tincher, Product Marketing Manager for Emerging Technologies at MultiTech. “Within these environments, a more flexible power option is needed. Our newest PoE versions introduce this flexibility to our customers and makes the Conduit AP an excellent choice to new organizations, such as hotels, offices, and retail facilities, that have requested PoE and understand its potential.”

The Conduit AP access point is part of the MultiTech Conduit product portfolio, the industry’s most configurable, manageable, and scalable communications gateways for industrial IoT applications. Network engineers can remotely configure and optimize their Conduit performance through DeviceHQ®, the world’s first IoT Application Store and Device Management platform and they can manage their enterprise hybrid/distributed LoRaWAN network through LENS®, the toolset for network, encryption keys and policies management, and performance reporting.

With the newest PoE option, a PoE‑Injector, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), or enterprise router capable of delivering PoE power can be used to power the Conduit AP using standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 cabling with RJ-45 connectors. A traditional DC power supply is no longer required. The new Conduit AP access point with PoE also has the capability of being powered using a traditional DC power supply if PoE power is not available or required.

The award-winning Conduit series comes in three variants designed to address specific IoT gateway use cases:

  • MultiTech Conduit®:  Indoor industrial gateway, ideal for environments that require metal casing for protection against particles and debris and require an industrial temperature range.
  • MultiTech Conduit® IP67 Base Station: Outdoor IP67-rated gateway ideally suited for performing in harsh environments such as rain, snow, extreme heat, and high winds.
  • MultiTech Conduit® AP Access Point: Indoor access point ideal for commercial environments (e.g. hotels, offices, retail facilities) to deepen LoRa coverage in difficult to reach places where cell tower or rooftop deployments may not perform as well.
