Network Number
Network Number is a unique identifier assigned to each BACnet network segment to support proper routing, organization, and communication across interconnected BACnet systems. Network numbers allow BACnet routers and devices to determine how messages should be forwarded between network segments, enabling scalable architectures that span multiple controllers, subnets, and physical media.
MultiTech integrates cleanly into these structured BACnet environments by assigning and respecting network numbers when presenting wireless IoT data over BACnet/IP. Through MultiTech gateways, LoRaWAN® sensor data becomes part of the existing BACnet network topology, allowing it to be routed, discovered, and managed alongside traditional devices.
This standards-aligned approach helps integrators extend building automation systems without disrupting established network design or routing schemes.
