BACnet Services

BACnet Services are the standardized communication actions that enable BACnet devices to exchange data, issue commands, and discover one another on a building automation network.

Common services include ReadProperty and WriteProperty for accessing and controlling object values, SubscribeCOV for receiving updates when values change, and Who-Is / I-Am for device discovery and network identification.

MultiTech leverages these core BACnet services to make wireless IoT data accessible and usable within existing building automation systems. By presenting LoRaWAN® sensors as virtual BACnet devices and objects, MultiTech gateways support standard BACnet service interactions over BACnet/IP, allowing BMS platforms to read, trend, and respond to sensor data using familiar workflows. This standards-based integration reduces engineering effort, supports interoperability, and enables partners to scale building automation solutions while maintaining consistent BACnet communication models.
